*External system

-Labia majora: 

+Serve as a protection layer for the other external reproductive organs.

+On the surface of labia majora, there are sweat and oil secreting glands.

-Labia minora:

+Can have a variety of sizes and shapes.

+Is located inside the labia majora, surrounding the tips of the vagina and urethra (tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body).

+Is very sensitive and easily becomes swollen.

-Bartholin’s glands:

+Located head the vaginal opening.

+Secrete fluid that helps lubricate vagina.

-Clitoris:

+Is the intersection of two labia minora.

+Is comparable to the penis (sensitive, covered by a layer of skin which can become erect.

*Internal reproductive organs

-Vagina: is the connection between the lower part of the uterus and the outside of the body.

-Uterus:

+Acts like a womb

+Is home of a developing fetus.

+Has 2 parts

  • Cervix: lower part that is linked to the urethra.
  • Corpus: body of the uterus which is responsible to hold a baby.

-Ovaries:

+Are located on two sides of the uterus.

+Produce hormones and eggs.

-Fallopian tube:

+Attach to the uterus.

+Egg cells (ova) travel from the ovaries to the uterus through the Fallopian tube
